We had a long, hilly walk in the rain in Little Rock tonight for Carry the Load. I was so honored, overwhelmed and filled with joy for all the support my friends, family, colleagues and Arkansans that came out to help fulfill the mission to bring back meaning to Memorial Day. I will be writing more and sharing more photos in the coming days, but here is a nice summary from THV11 in Little Rock tonight.

I had a great weekend in downtown Little Rock watching film festival movies, listening to panels and hanging out with cool people. I am so proud of the city for continuing to host this event and I have been pleased to watch it grow every year since 2007. If you missed the Little Rock Film Festival this year, be sure to catch it next year. You won’t regret it. I’ve included all the photos that I took below. My favorite was “This is Where We Live,” but everything I saw and participated in was fabulous.

This morning I spoke with Chris Kane at KATV in Little Rock about Carry the Load and its mission to bring back the meaning of Memorial Day. The National Relay has been crossing the country this month and will hit North Little Rock and Little Rock tomorrow, Tuesday May 21st. Last week, I made a quick day trip to Dallas (thanks to a dear friend who let me swoop in on her day and home for the interview!) to talk with Jim Douglas of WFAA in Dallas/Fort Worth about Carry The Load and its mission to bring back the meaning of the Memorial Day.
